The 1XV played their final home league game of the season on Saturday as they ran out deserved winners against Clitheroe 1XV πŸ‰πŸ‰

The lads at this stage deserve a special mention for now going the entire season, at home, UNBEATEN! 9 wins out of 9! πŸ’°πŸ’°

At Green Lane, the men in Green racked up an impressive 416 points scored conceding just 72. An impressive fact for Clitheroe Rugby Union Football Club that despite the heavy loss, they were in fact the team who scored the most against our men at home - 17! πŸ‘πŸ‘

The 1XV now have tough tests away to Ashton and Burnley to see out the league, knowing that a win at Ashton will secure promotion and a bonus point win in both remaining games will pile some pressure on Wigan for the top spot! 😁😁😁

There have been some outstanding home records for the men in green over the years... Can you name the captain or any players from the seasons below?

1998/99 North Lancs/Cumbria: Finished 4th and one loss at home 10-30 to Blackpool RUFC!

2000/01 South Lancs/Cheshire 2: Promotion and one loss at home 14-15 to Trenton RUFC!

2007/08 South lancs/Cheshire 2: Promotion and one loss at home (Can't find result unfortunately!)

2012/13 South Lancs/Cheshire 2: Finished 3rd and one loss at home 32-34 to Vagabonds Rugby Club!

Well done to coaches James Smith and Steven Ekuor, 1XV Captain Michael Knowles and Vice Captain Aaron Ferry and all the lads on the season to date - finish strong lads and bring home a trophy!

I’m reliably informed the mid section of the 10 shirt was stretched beyond recognition during the 2007/8 season.

Great achievement lads, well done! Peter Purdy was captain in 98/99 and then again in 2000/2001. I was lucky enough to play in all 3 of the first seasons mentioned along with Kieran Mahood Andrew J Dean Phil Davis and Gaz Prytherch. Happy days! πŸ†

Well done lads, excellent record, congrats to all the players and coaches!

Benjamin Davis was the captain for 12/13 season I believe

πŸ™‹‍♂️ 2012/13 season! Tom Owens only survivor still in the 1s I think?

Other players to play in one or more of these 4 seasons at Fortress Green Lane were Glyn Roberts John Armstrong,Mathew Johnson Anthony Allan Jamie Wroe Stoney, Aitch, Jamie Gregg, Ashy, Rowley, Chris Tracey, Ray Allen, Rich Underwood, Adam Ainscough, Monty, Steve Denholm Mol, PK and not forgetting Blacky!
